GATE Training for Adminstrators

October 6, 2009
8:30–10:30 am
Los Gatos Hobee’s Restaurant

The California Association for the Gifted is offering a breakfast workshop on meeting the needs of gifted & talented students for principals, assistant principals, superintendents, and district office administrators.

If you attend, you will receive a free guidebook for administrators (The Leadership Challenge: A Guidebook for Administrators, ©2008 CAG) that will guide school leaders in meeting the basic requirements of the California recommended standards for gifted education.

CAG knows that most administrators have a wide range of responsibilities, and we offer this workshop to provide those who attend with a crystallized understanding of how school sites can best serve gifted and talented students in grades K–12.

Participants will also leave with many ideas for how to run a high quality GATE program on a limited budget.

The workshop will be led by Steve Kahl, the educator representative for the California Association for the Gifted in this region of the state. Steve coordinates the GATE program at Mountain View High School and has trained teachers in districts throughout the state in differentiated instruction methodology.

To reserve a space, contact steven.kahl@mvla.net with your name, position, school and/or district, email address, and phone number. Space is limited to 30 participants.

If you are among the first ten administrators to register, your breakfast will be paid for by an anonymous local advocate of gifted education. All others will pay for their own meal. There is no registration fee for this workshop.

LOCATION: We will be in the meeting room of Los Gatos Hobee’s Restaurant, located at the intersection of Highway 9 and University Avenue in downtown Los Gatos. 165 Los Gatos Saratoga Rd. (Highway 9 @ University Ave.), Los Gatos, CA 95030, (408) 395-5600, (Google Map)
