We are the Regional organization for the California Association of the Gifted (www.cagifted.org), for “Region 5” of California: Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Monterey and San Benito Counties. These four counties include NNN schools (public, charter and private), serving over NNN students.

Who we are

We are the regional organization of the California Association for the Gifted. We are educators, parents and community members concerned about and involved with gifted education in our region of California. The following people have volunteered to serve in leadership positions:

Our meeting attendance continues to grow! Holding meetings at a variety of school districts throughout the region has made it possible for more people to attend. Comments about how much expertise everyone in the group shares are often heard as we adjourn. It is enjoyable to have time to share new ideas and ask questions of respected colleagues. The possibility of forming a CAG affiliate in our region has been proposed. Your ideas and experience are welcome. Please join us. This school year we will continue to meet at various districts. If you are willing to host a meeting, please email Marta to let her know as our dates and locations are being finalized now.

Our parents and teachers have new energy since the CAG conference was held here in March! Many participants were attending the CAG conference for the first time. They have shared their experiences and enthusiasm with their school sites and districts, explaining how passionate speakers and volunteers are about GATE. The school tours were of particular interest. Mountain View School District, San Jose Unified School District, Palo Alto Unified School District, Fremont Unified School District, and The Nueva School all welcomed CAG participants to view their classrooms. The tours showcased the teachers’ abilities to meet the needs of gifted learners within regular, mixed-ability classrooms. It was important for participants to see how effective teachers are able to meet the needs of all their students.
